Craft in Ceramic
In Sevillarte
we used two types of artisan techniques to work the ceramics: "cuerda
seca" and "vidriada
sobre cubierta".
Cuerda
Seca.
Technique originating from the XV and XVI centuries
that consists of applying enamels on ceramic. We offer plates, wall
and table clocks, mirrors...
Our artists work the "cuerda seca" in the
following way.
| |
Outline
The artist, using a fine brush impregnated in grease and
manganese dioxide, outlining the drawing and forming a greasy
wall that will retain the enamels. |
| |
Fill
brush
The enameling is made with the filling by brush within the interior
spaces of the drawing. Followed by a second baking. |
| |
Gold
A special brush impregnated gold, slides freely throughout the
reliefs. |
| |
Baking
The last baking, at lower temperature, concludes the finished
work. |
Vidriada
sobre cubierta.
It dates from the XVI to the XVIII centuries and is
a technique in which the ceramic, turned by hand and baked, are
decorated by brush with colourant oxides on an opaque bath of crystal.
Thus, applying the “vidriada” to jars, vases, plates,
trays, murals...
